Massage
Massage therapy is an age-old healing art that continues to prove effective in addressing a variety of health concerns. Scientific evidence is now confirming the many benefits of massage. Research shows that massage relaxes muscles, increases blood circulation and lymph flow, lowers blood pressure, reduces heart rate, improves range of motion, aids recovery following surgery, relieves anxiety and depression, increases endorphins, and aids in relieving both chronic and acute pain conditions.

Massage stimulates the body’s own natural healing and provides an antidote to stress by stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system. As a treatment for injuries from automobile accidents, repetitive use strains, sports, or just lifting that heavy box or grandchild, massage can play an important role in physical rehabilitation. Therapeutic massage provides an effective complement to chiropractic care. By warming the surrounding soft tissue and reducing muscular tension, massage helps prepare the body for chiropractic treatment, making joints more pliable and facilitating easier adjustments. When muscle tension or spasms are released, joints are also more likely to maintain proper alignment. Together, chiropractic and massage help to relieve muscular-skeletal dysfunction and the accompanying pain and to support the body’s natural healing process.

Linda Langford, LMP has been practicing massage since 1994. A graduate of the Finger Lakes School of Massage in Ithaca, NY, she is licensed to practice massage in Washington and New York states as well as receiving her National Certification in 1995. She continues to improve and expand her massage skills through regular continuing education, especially in the areas of Deep Tissue massage, Myofascial Release, and Structural Bodywork (in the tradition of Ida Rolf).
Linda skillfully combines her knowledge with an intuitive and palpatory sense of the myofascial restrictions of each body she touches helping to relieve pain, reduce muscular tension, and counteract the harmful effects of stress. She has worked with hundreds of patients experiencing pain and muscular tension from a variety of conditions—i.e., strains and sprains, fibromyalgia, sciatica, low back pain, headaches, sports or work-related injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fascitis, arthritis, TMJ, and much more. She has worked closely with chiropractors throughout her career and has had the pleasure of working with chiropractor, Dr. Kearney, in Seattle for the past 4 years.
